The main motivation for organizing group yoga retreats for over seven years was, and still is, to transfer the theoretical principles of yoga practice to real life. This involves living and reflecting on the experience of yoga off the mat through full days of practice and study. Workshops are a minimum of 2 to 3 days life experience that gives us a resetting in our nervous system.
The program usually has two dimensions. One develops the analysis of physical and mechanical actions in asanas. We study and review them to better understand them, allowing enough time for adaptations or addressing personal doubts. The second dimension gives space for open conversation among participants about the four qualities of the human being: kindness, compassion, contentment, and detachment (maitri, karuna, mudita, and upeksha). We also include specific times for meditation, as well as delicious food specially prepared for the retreat.
These meetings have always resulted in beautiful connections with ourselves and our fellow practitioners. Showing us yoga as a path of self-study and an opportunity to learn the practical application of these principles in our daily lives.
Workshops are instances for learning, 3 to 6 hours long special classes where we focus on a specific physical or mental topic that is usually not studied in detail during general practice or classes. Whether for therapeutic applications, personal growth, or simply to deepen one’s practice, workshops are a valuable learning and discovery opportunity for yoga practitioners of all experience levels.
